How to Hold Your Family Together – Motivation

Category : Life

As I’ve learned from the years of experience, your family can be a good source of stability, security (financial and/or emotional) and happiness.  It can promote love and unity. But, when things hit the fan within a family, it can become the total opposite. Things become stressful and annoying.

From observing the relationship I have with my family, my girlfriend and other families, I have learned that one of the biggest aspects than can keep families together at all times is Motivation.

Lets seperate this into Husban and Wives and Parents and Children. Because most of you might not think, but being a good husband or wife has nothing to do with being a good parent or vice versa.

Husbands and wives:

You all may know this, and I’ve personally have heard this from many of my newly-wed friends that the first year of marriage between newly-weds is usually the hardest.  Even though a couple may have date for man years and know each other like the back of their hands, more often than not marriage tends to change some things.  Obviously, when a couple gets married is because they want to be together for life.  However, when they become hubby and wifey, their two seperate lives become one.  They start sharing chores, bills, responsibilities, and integrate parts of their lives that they was independent before.  Dont fear though. There is a perfect solution for this and its also quite simple.

  1. Give each other space : the couple needs to still have a sense of independence.  Do not be in each others face all the time. Allow for personal reflection and time. If your wife or husband wants to spend time watching TV by his/herself for a bit or just wants to do something by his/herself at times let them do it.  Its perfectly fine. They married you cause they love you and want to be with you. But they still want to be them too.
  2. Motivation: The most important one think.  Motivation between husband and wife is crucial and I don’t see it much in today’s marriages. This is a very delicate balance of communication and compromise. However, when two people are committed to each other and want to stay together, motivation, communication, compromise is the tie that binds them together.
    1. If a husband and wife truly want to make the marriage work, they have to be willing to make sacrifices for each other. Staying together is their motivation. They cannot be self-centered, greedy, or stubborn. They have to learn to work together to achieve goals and be a team. If they are unable to do this, their relationship will fall apart.

You may ask, but what if couples have a hard time resolving their issues?  And My answer will be very simple too.  Motivation.

If couples have a hard time working out their issues alone, the Motivation to stay together will push to to seek marriage/relationship counseling from an outside expert source.  They can visit Relationship, Marriage or heck even Sex Therapists or even a memeber of a religious clergy (if they are a religious couple).  Taking these steps, will not only fix their problems but will bring them closer together.

Now lets move on to Parents and Children.

Parents and Children

For couples that have one or more children, family motivation is especially important. A couple no longer has just their own relationship to work on, but they must also be concerned for their children. Children bring a great deal of responsibility into a relationship. They must be raised, educated, and given good examples of how to live.  If a couple do not have a set foundation set already  in their marriage, its usually hard to be a good example to your kids.  Children learn primarily from their parents. Therefore, couples must make their lives an example for their children to live by.

Also Remember, Its Parents vs Kids.  Parents can not have difference in opinion in front of their kids.  This will take authority away from parents

Each parent has a certain responsibility to the children they are raising. A parent should be reliable, consistent, loving, patient, generous, and be willing to give their undivided attention whenever it is needed. Parents should also be firm with their children. All of these parenting traits will help to raise a child that is well adjusted and disciplined. This is family motivation for a parent to succeed. Family motivation will inspire a parent to be responsible, keep a job, pay bills, and save money for the sake of the child’s future education or needs.

Family motivation keeps all types of families intact. Without it, family ties easily unwind.
